Inter-Governmental Relations

As the City Council actively participates in regional agencies and boards, the City Manager's Office provides assistance and coordinates these functions. The general purpose of these agencies is to address issues of regional concern in cooperation with neighboring cities and counties.

The inter-governmental agencies of which the City of Rancho Cucamonga is a member include SANBAG, OMNITRANS, and SCAG. The San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) includes the twenty-four cities within the County of San Bernardino and the County of San Bernardino's Board of Supervisors. SANBAG's functions include serving as the forum for consideration, study and recommendation on County-wide, sub-regional and regional problems; and serving as the sub-regional transportation planning, fiscal programming and coordinating agency.

Omnitrans is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) whose function is to coordinate the busing needs of the County of San Bernardino. This includes all fixed route and special transit services, operations and planning, and special transit services.

The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) functions as the metropolitan planning agency and council of governments for a region composed of six counties and 184 cities with a total population exceeding 15 million.

If you have any questions regarding the City's participation in these Inter-governmental agencies, please call the City Manager's Office at (909) 477-2700.
