Library Services
Prior
to 1994, the City of Rancho Cucamonga provided library services
to the community through a contract with the San Bernardino
County Library Department. In September of 1994, the first
City owned and operated library facility opened its doors. Since then, the library has added a bookmobile, a literacy program, an after-school tutoring program and in 2006, a second location, the Paul A. Biane Library at Victoria Gardens.
Function
A basic municipal service, the Library Services Department
is administered by the Library Board of Trustees. Using the
most advanced technology to provide the best in personal public
service, the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library provides current
information, formal education support, independent learning
opportunities and life enrichment materials to a highly diverse
public in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
In fulfilling its function, the Library Services Department
is responsible for the administration of the following programs:
- Children’s services, programs and special events.
- Adult information services.
- Adult and family literacy services.
- Circulation and processing of materials for use.
- Foundation and fundraising support.
Projects & Goals

Work with the Library Board, City Council and Friends
of the Library to plan for growth and expansion of library
services.

Continue to explore expanding library services to the second floor of the Paul A. Biane LIbrary at Victoria Gardens.

Produce and telecast the Library's eighth award
winning Telethon in 2009.

Develop and market the Library Foundation’s
Planned Giving Program.

Develop entrepreneurial plans for continued support of the Adult
Literacy program and the after-school tutoring program.

Continue to aggressively pursue grant oppportunities.
