The California
Office of Historic Preservation (OHP)
is the main state agency responsible for historic preservation
in
California. The State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO)
is located in this office. Under federal law each state
must have a SHPO, who is responsible for nominating
resources

organization dedicated to promoting history and culture

preservation
law, and references to certain preservation projects.
