All For Fun...And Fun For All! Rancho Cucamonga’s moniker as a “Gateway to a Southern California Adventure” will soon become even more apparent as visitors make use of their new “Fun Books” to plan a few hours — or a few days — exploring the City and nearby attractions. The Fun Books (which are likely to be rolling on the presses as you read this article) are the latest offerings by the Rancho Cucamonga Redevelopment Agency to help promote tourism in the community and the greater Inland Empire region.
The
Fun Book is packed with helpful information on interesting things to do
and see, as well as listings of special attractions, restaurants, and
hotel accommodations. The
guide even includes a cartoon-style map of the City, which identifies
popular venues that visitors are certain to be interested in seeing.
Incorporated into the 24-page Fun Book (which is really more of a
booklet) is a special section called the Route 66 Tour where readers are
introduced to points of interest along The
first thing readers will notice when picking up a copy of the Fun Book
is its colorful and inviting cover.
Right away visitors are clued in to the fact that
Also located up front is a colorful cartoon-style map that highlights special activities and venues in the City. For instance, historic points of interest such as the Sycamore Inn restaurant, Christmas House Bed and Breakfast, and the Filippi Winery are prominently displayed in their respective locations. Special attractions like the Maloof Residence, Workshop and Gardens, the Epicenter, and Empire Lakes Golf Course are also whimsically portrayed. Even select venues located near the City that would be of considerable interest to travelers, such as the California Speedway and LA/Ontario Airport are included on the map. The
Rancho Cucamonga Fun Book’s Route 66 Tour includes historic and
interesting venues including the 50-year-old Magic Lamp Inn restaurant
with its storied history; the Wine Tailor, located at the site of
California's oldest winery; and Route 66 Memories, offering treasures from funky

When it comes to recreation and entertainment possibilities, readers will be able to find information on just about any activity that interests them. From bowling at Deer Creek Lanes or billiards at Rack ‘Em Up to browsing at local book stores or taking in a movie, there are plenty of things listed for every member of the family. Even special leisure activities, like taking an historic bike tour or fishing at nearby Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, are listed for those who enjoy outdoor activities. All of the City of Rancho Cucamonga's accommodations are prominently listed in the Fun Book, complete with contact information and the number of available rooms at each property. For dining choices, readers are introduced to a wide selection of restaurants, which are alphabetized and categorized by type (American, Asian, Italian, etc.). To economize on space — since there are more than 300 restaurants within the City — only those restaurants that are considered full service or offer a sit-down area are listed. However, knowing that many travelers have both a passion for coffee and teas, as well as “sweets," the inclusion of coffee houses and specialty treat shops was a must.
Since it is hard to overlook the need to stay connected in this age of "total access," the Fun Book also includes a handy inventory of retailers and other venues that provide wireless Internet access. So, visitors armed with laptops and PDAs will know exactly where in the community they can go to log on and keep in touch with the folks back home. The
Fun Book will serve as one of the
Redevelopment Agency’s key tools for promoting all of the great
things that there are to see and do in Rancho Cucamonga, and it will be
distributed freely to individuals requesting travel and tourism
information as a result of planned advertisements or direct inquiries.
It is anticipated that copies will also be made available to
local hotels, shopping areas, and other venues, such as the new
California Welcome Center, that attract large numbers of
visitors. Visitors who are ready to start their adventure…in
